Strathearn Historical Park Wedding | California Wedding Photographer

Where do I even begin? This Strathearn Historical Park Wedding in Ventura County, California was very memorable to me for multiple reasons.
It was 3 days before Cathy and Will’s wedding that the Woolsey and Hill fire destroyed over 1,600 structures (also a mass shooting in Thousand Oaks), so emotions were high during this time and there was a period of uncertainty where we all wondered how the wind or fire would affect this important day in their lives.

Thankfully, we lucked out! It wasn't too windy or smokey and everything went on as scheduled! They had around 100 guests, so it was more of an intimate wedding, which I absolutely adore. The ceremony took place in a tiny historical chapel that felt like it was 200 years old. The church featured beautiful stained glass windows, moody wood paneled walls and floors, and an endless amount of character. Another highlight of the ceremony was the handsome ring bearer and four adorable flower girls, because you can't ever have too many!

Following the ceremony, they had their reception dinner at a local Mexican restaurant nearby. The dinner consisted of delicious tacos and margaritas for the guests to enjoy. After the dinner, everyone went back to the bride and groom's home for more celebrating. The groom owns a vintage BMW motorcycle and Ford Mustang, which made for the perfect opportunity to take some unique pictures. I was so happy they wanted to incorporate the motorcycle into the pictures, whereas some couples may not have cared to try something like that on their wedding day. I definitely think it was well worth our time to get those timeless shots! The bride and groom also built a really cute custom bar in the shed in their backyard. This is where they started slinging drinks for guests during the reception- so much fun! The dancing, twinkling string lights, and energy was magical and I could easily see how good of a time everyone was having. Overall, the entire wedding day felt perfectly intimate, intentional, and heart felt.
