ENGAGEMENT SESSION GUIDE

WHEN TO BOOK

If you are wanting images from your session to be printed for your wedding day decorations, I suggest that the session take place no later than three months before your wedding date.

While it’s different for every wedding, most of my couples schedule their session around 5-6 months prior to their wedding day.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your session will typically last about 1 hour.

It’s a great time for you two to spend time with one another, slow down and soak in the fact that you’re getting married!!!

As most of you guys know…I’m very laid back and I truly believe in making your session an experience to remember. We’ll explore, laugh, and you guys will have an amazing time celebrating this sweet and joyful time.

HAVING SAID THAT, THE JOY AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR GETTING GREAT PHOTOS DOESN’T REST ENTIRELY ON ME. IF YOU WANT PHOTOS THAT REFLECT YOUR LOVE, YOUR UNIQUENESS…YOU’VE GOTTA BRING THE LOVE.

I’ll find the great light, great backgrounds, and give you the amount of direction that you need as a unique couple, but beyond that you’ve gotta love, laugh, have fun, ditch your reservations (even if that requires a glass of wine)…. and trust me.

I know a lot of people are nervous about having their picture made…and it’s totally normal! Can the first 15 minutes feel awkward? Sure, of course! But I try to make things as laid back and fun as possible. It’ll be a great time, no need to worry!

The best advice I can give you guys for this session… the more vulnerable you guys are with each other and with me, the more amazing your images will be. Promise. So if you need a glass of wine to get prepped, feel free :)

LOCATION

Sure epic locations are great, but you’d be surprised how amazing the most random little nook or cranny can look when you add in two people madly in love.

That said, I love being intentional and working with my couples on finding a location that’s unique to who you are as a couple, AND a location that will provide the best light possible for creating your images.

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR PHOTOS

  1. Print those photos, y’all!  I offer amazing professional prints through your online gallery, but even if you choose to print elsewhere, just get your favorites on your walls – they’re beautiful reminders of this season you’re in and will be gifts that give back to you over time.

  2. Your engagement photos also make great save the dates! Sending a fresh photo of the of you in this joyful season is always a fun thing to do and to receive and your friends and family will love it.

  3. Make a small album! Every couple years my husband Bryce and I hire our favorite photographers to capture our love and life and every year they become more and more special to us – little albums of images that show who we were in different seasons, and being able to sprinkle those albums through out our house is such a gift.
